About UsLakeland Dog Training Club was founded in 1953. Early meetings, training and events were held at a variety of locations in and around Cambridge for a handful of years, until Lakeland purchased approximately 3 acres of land that included a building suitable for training. We're very fortunate to have the benefit of this property. We no longer heat with coal (an early expense!), but haven't modernized enough to offer classes in winter. Our club holds winter meetings at various locations (just like the early years!), and the early spirit of camaraderie is still strong. Here's how to find our clubhouse and training grounds. Collectively, members are actively involved in agility, obedience, tracking, hunt test training, conformation, community education and just happily hanging out with our dogs. We are a fairly active club, organizing:
Cindy Dean is our Membership Coordinator. Cindy can be contacted at bryshire@cni-usa.com or 262-472-9383. Even if you're not a member, you can get involved. We always happily accept volunteer help at our agility and obedience trials. It's a good way to get to know us, and if you're new to competition, it's a good way to learn about these activities. Lakeland is an AKC affiliate, however, mixed-breed dogs are welcome to our training classes. We'll occasionally highlight members and notable accomplishments with their dogs, so check back!
